Deja Blu Russian Blues

Adoption Process + FAQ

Adopting a pet into your home can be an important decision and we are happy that you trust us to be your breeder.

We have an active waiting list. The wait will be most likely over 6 months, as we set out to be a small-scale cattery due to our busy work life.

Getting onto our waitlist:

If you are seriously interested, email us at dejablu.rb@gmail.com to introduce yourself to allow us to learn more about you and your preference, and stay in contact with us on Facebook so we can get to know each other.

*Although we do contact people along the waitlist, we do interviews with the potential families so the waitlist and the wait time aren’t “fixed”.

When a litter arrives:

Once a litter has arrived, we start reaching out to potential families on the waitlist. If we don't hear from you, we assume you are no longer interested. Prompt reply is very important for us.

After we decide on families of the kittens, we send families a sample contract for review and signatures. Kittens are reserved only when a non-refundable deposit(50% of full price) is received, within a week of signing of the contract. Once we receive the deposit, we will send a confirmation receipt and send regular photo/video updates to the families.

Adoption Fee, and what’s included:

The price of a pet kitten will be comparable to other CFA Russian Blue breeders on the West Coast and is subject to change depending on the local costs of neutering/spaying and vaccinations. Currently, it is $2,500 per male kitten and $2,700 per female kitten(subject to change upon local spay/neuter cost inflation). The remaining balance is due before pickup.

The kitten will be vaccinated (3 FVRCP + 1 Rabies), microchipped, neutered or spayed, with CFA registration papers (for you to register on CFA website), a pedigree and a health warranty.

Timeline

Pet kittens will leave at 16-19 weeks of age.

Once a deposit is taken, the expectation is that you will make arrangements to pick up the kitten within 2 weeks of it being ready to join your home!

Feel free to check out the detailed New Owner Resources we put together for you.

We require that you provide a PERMANENT, indoor-only home for your pet. Pet ownership is a responsibility that lasts the entire life of the pet. Declawing will also violate our adoption contract.

Please email us at dejablu.rb@gmail.com.

We do not ship; however if you are too far away to drive, we can arrange to meet you at the airport (SJC or SFO) if you wish to take your kitten home by air (accompanied, in the cabin). Our preference is that you come to our home to pick up your kitten.

RB is a healthy breed but needs regular grooming and cleaning. You should also be financially ready to feed premium cat food and use good cat litter, and potentially cope with occasional vet bills. For a long-term overall health, it is best to use at least biweekly dental brushing to prevent dental diseases. Check out more here.
